A large moss-covered asbestos-cement ventilation hood on the side of a commercial building, dismantled piece by piece inside a scaffold-wrap enclosure and the ground reinstated.
An ageing asbestos-cement ventilation hood and duct, mounted on a steel frame against a commercial building, was deteriorating and had to go. Because the structure stood outdoors and above head height, SES scaffolded it and wrapped the scaffold to form a sealed enclosure before any panel was touched.
Inside the wrap the crew dismantled the fibre-cement panels and the insulated lining under wet methods, wrapped everything on poly for licensed disposal and stripped the steel frame back to its base plates. The lawn was reinstated and the area cleared before hand-back.
Project scope:
- Scaffold-wrap enclosure around an outdoor asbestos-cement structure
- Panel-by-panel dismantling under wet methods
- Friable insulation lining removed and double-wrapped
- Steel frame stripped and ground reinstated
- Clearance inspection and disposal dockets supplied
